Great Lakes Charter Training's Advanced Navigation class is designed to
provide a thorough understanding and working knowledge of the concepts of
navigation and piloting.
For the beginning navigator to an advanced world circumnavigator, this class
takes charting to a new level. It starts with the basics, and finishes at
the end of the world.
Completion of this course will enable the student to successfully navigate
vessels without the aids of electronic devices. A navigator must be able
to use these skills to prepare for trips in the event his/her electronic
equipment fails. A certificate will be awarded at the final class meeting.
This certificate may entitle the student to a reduction in marine insurance
rates, as most insurance carriers offer up to a ten- percent discount for
such classes.
